We’re hosting a community open day ahead of the next stage for the Omāroro pipelines project. Once built, Omāroro Reservoir will make the city’s water supply much more resilient in case of a disaster or operational failure. Right now, we’re installing the large pipes that will connect the reservoir to the existing network.
This next stage involves closing Wallace Street, Mt Cook, to traffic for a few months. A diversion will be in place via Wright St, and Adelaide Road will be the main route into the city to and from the south.
Interested? You’re welcome to attend the community drop-in session on Sunday 17 November 11am – 2pm at Massey University Executive Suite, Gate A, Wallace St. See you there.
With everyone staying home, it’s now more important than ever for everyone to be fire-safe. People can find information on our website - fireandemergency.nz...
We’re heading into winter, and with households self-isolating together, there’ll be more cooking at home, and more use of open fires, heaters, and dryers - all things which can increase fire risk.
New Zealanders can be confident that Fire and Emergency is well-prepared and ready to respond to emergencies as usual during the nationwide self- isolation period.
Please call 111 if you have a fire, we will ask you whether anyone at the address is self-isolating or has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Where this is the case, we already have necessary measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including protective clothing, gloves, masks, safety glasses and mask.
As part of the national response to COVID-19 alert level 4 Metlink will make all rail and bus services free until June.
Public transport will continue to be available for essential service workers, and to enable communities to access supermarkets, pharmacies and health facilities.
For more information about this and what services are running, please read the full update on our website below.
As the lockdown takes force, we may be working from home, but one workplace tradition can live on - the 5-minute quiz. Many workplaces (including our journalists) have taken the quiz online, with a daily video chat. How are you doing the quiz? We'd love to see photos! Include caption details and you may even see it in the paper - or mark NFP (not for print) if you don't want it used.
Please note: due to copyright restrictions the quiz can not be shared online, by us or anybody else. It is available in the paper which is continuing to be delivered, or through an online subscription. Call 0800 339 000 or email email@example.com to subscribe.
