There is a reason Readers Tours attract ‘Adventurous Seniors’.

Our itineraries are bold and colourful, so are our tour guides.
We drive scenic roads and coastal highway and have luxury accommodation waiting after a big day. We offer excursions such as Helicopter rides and guided walks and have everything organised down to the last meal, with free newspapers for a spot of reading or challenging sudoku.

We are passionate about bringing like-minded individuals together to explore this beautiful landscape we call our backyard and are ready to go full steam ahead with our next tour the moment it is safe to do so.

For now, we will continue to bring you stunning photography, travel stories and helpful tips during these unprecedented times.

Our team remains dedicated to helping you, so please pick up the phone or fill out our contact form and we will be in touch. We look forward to you joining us and experiencing New Zealand like never before.

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra has cancelled its live online performance from Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre, after regulations around social distancing came into affect earlier this week.

However, they will still perform online for all of New Zealand tonight, as concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppanen and several players filmed themselves playing one of their favourite pieces of music from their homes.

We are told to stay home so I thought I’d use online shopping for the first time rather than going to the supermarket. This was my experience. They sure need to do some work to make this useable.

The system knew my delivery agent is New World Waikanae. Having never used this system I tried to sign up. The system responds I am registered but password incorrect.Tried 2x to do a password reset but nothing came back as indicated.
Maybe the issue Is I have a club card?
It seemed the online system will not let you order beer and or wine?
It also seemed to be saying that no time to pick up available in the next 5 days!

Finally I received an automated reply saying they will contact in up to 7 days.

The council has just issued a release that reads:
Kāpiti Coast District Mayor K Gurunathan is reassuring the community that essential Council services will continue as usual as New Zealand moves into alert level 4 in the COVID-19 response from midnight tomorrow.
“Our essential drinking water supply and waste water services will continue as usual. We are well set up to keep these services running while maintaining self-isolation protocols.
“Kerbside waste collectors in Kāpiti have advised that they will continue to collect kerbside rubbish but there will be no separate recycling or green waste collections from Wednesday 25 March. Please put your recycling in your rubbish wheelie bin, not in your recycling crate or wheelie bin.
“The Ōtaki and Otaihanga Transfer Stations and Waikanae Recycling Centre will close at 5pm Wednesday 25 March until further notice as will Composting New Zealand’s green waste drop-off site at Otaihanga.
“Residents who do not have kerbside rubbish collection are asked to stockpile their rubbish on their own property until the Transfer Stations reopen.
“We all need to act responsibly to keep our essential services running. That means doing the right thing by not dumping rubbish in our public spaces.
“We have been given very clear instructions from the Government and we absolutely need everyone to follow the rules and to be prepared to be in self-isolation for at least four weeks from midnight tomorrow.
“Doing the hard yards now to stamp out COVID-19 will help protect our community from the worst of COVID-19. Failure to stay at home and comply with the rules puts everyone in our community and across New Zealand at risk and will likely mean that we’ll be in lock down for longer.
“I know it’s hard but we need to stay calm and do what we’re told. I encourage everyone to get themselves sorted and to get their neighbour’s phone number, set up a community group chat. Your whanau, friends and immediate neighbours will help get you through this.”
“Stay connected, be kind to one another and stay home.”

Like others I was concerned about overdue fees for my library books.
I had trouble finding any info about this.
However I found the following, very well hidden info, on the Spydus site so I thought I'd share it.

Stay safe everyone. See you on the other side.

Kāpiti Coast District Libraries are closed until further notice.
We know that this will be hard for our customers, but we want to be sure that we are all safe.

Please keep library items at home until we let you know otherwise. Book return slots will be closed.

All loans will be extended by 6 weeks as of 23 March 2020. If we are closed for longer than 6 weeks, we will extend loans again. There will be no fines for that period.

We encourage you to use our Axis360 and PressReader apps. Use your library card and password to log in (if you have no password you will be able to create one.

We will be working on ways to keep library resources available, but at the moment we don’t know what that will look like.

We will be keeping our Facebook page and website updated as we receive new information.
