We hold a monthly meeting for retired, or those who consider themselves semi- retired persons, of all callings in our community who would appreciate an opportunity to gain more social contacts by meeting with others having similar interests or in similar circumstances.
Once Wanganui's original Probus Club, the name change to REBUS arose because the Australians franchised the name so large numbers of we Kiwi’s renamed our clubs as "REBUS,” and continued as before.

Our next meeting is at 10 am Tuesday 3 March in the Blind Foundation Building, 102 Peat Street Wanganui. Please feel free to join us, you would be most welcome.

The meeting concludes by noon and those wishing to, will then gather for luncheon at one of the cafes in Wanganui.

More information about REBUS Wanganui including details of our very reasonable membership fees may be found by clicking on the blue "Read More" below.

Is there a Butcher still slicing bacon in Wanganui?

The last batch of Bacon sliced, vacuum packed by the producer and marketed by Countdown was so thin that any tendency for it to stick to the pan when cooking caused it to tear which resulted in the entire serving appearing on the plate as shredded bacon

In the "good old days," when I was younger, easy on the eye, had energy and hair, I could ask the seller to slice for me, 10 slices of bacon , or many other types of meat, tongue, corned beef, beef etc with their slicer set on 5 or whatever number my fancy desired.
Nowadays I can not find a single purveyer of bacon in Wanganui who actually slices bacon. Countdown, New World, Pak n Save, all have theirs arriving either presliced and in bulk for placement in the Deli cabinet or presliced and vacuum packed for self selection from the chillers. The Mad butcher didn't even have bacon in stock !
Labour saving no doubt but a killer for customer choice.

SO, back to the question, is there a retailer selling bacon sliced to a thickness requested by the customer?

Who wouldn’t want to show up to play in flash shoes like these? Customise a fresh pair of footwear or fancy up some old favourites – while covering up scuff marks – with nothing more than a few Resene testpots, artist’s brushes and a bit of good quality masking tape.

If your kids are little, you can help mask off any of the harder parts – such as around the soles – that you want to keep paint off of and remove laces, if there are any. You can even use this idea to makeover adult shoes that never get worn because the colour doesn’t go with anything.

Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.
