Coronavirus champions: unsung heroes of the lockdown

Nicola Brennan-Tupara Reporter from Hamilton Press

Hi neighbours,
We've reached the half-way point in the minimum four weeks of coronavirus level four lockdown.
It's been tough for many, and even though New Zealand's case numbers are looking promising, we all know that restrictions might need to go on even longer.
But these strange times have also brought out the best in some of our communities - and now Stuff is celebrating New Zealand's coronavirus champions.
Every day, we will salute the essential workers, the unsung heroes and the community volunteers who are keeping the country going through the lockdown.
Check out our first one below, Waikato nurse Debra Larsen who has been on the front line of testing during the lockdown.
We also want to hear about the unsung heroes in your communities.
Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised?
Who are the people going above and beyond to help us all pull through? To share stories and photos of your local coronavirus champions, email stuffnation@stuff.co.nz.

Old Roasting Dish Wanted Thanks

Graeme from Frankton

Hi

Long story , but I am after an old roasting dish or similar , to drain stale fuel out of a classic car . Buckets are too tall ( won't fit under the tank ) , and anything plastic may melt ( petrol does that to some plastics I understand -- I don't want to find out haha ! ) .
It can be a warped one , have burnt stuff , just no holes , happy to pay a couple of $$ and can pick up after hours . Thanks in advance cheers .

Message me or text 0274 939 000 .

Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed!

Community Activator from Red Cross - Waikato Service Centre

This service supports elderly, ill and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves.
Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience. Being a Meals on Wheels driver takes about two hours one day a week, fortnight or month, or even casually depending on your availability.
For further information please contact us on 07 849 0285 or email: waikato@redcross.org.nz

The Team from Hamilton City Council

We’re lucky to have more than 1100 hectares of green space in our great river city. Where would you like to see more nature in the city and why?
