There will be more opportunities for local people to develop woodworking skills after Masterton Trust Lands Trust (MTLT) provided the Wairarapa Woodworkers Guild with a concessional rent grant and
larger facility to operate from.

The Guild has relocated from Carterton Men’s Shed into the MTLT-owned former trout hatchery building adjacent to Millennium Reserve.
Guild president Nick Crozier said the building was ideal for the organisation, which has a growing membership.
“It’s fantastic to have a dedicated space where we can have our machines permanently laid out, rather than having to set up and then pack up our equipment each session. The central location will provide easier access to our club nights and workshops, and the building is well equipped for running our courses.”

She has tamed up really well and is ready to be adopted with her brother Buddy. Unfortunately Precious has developed a hernia and her treatment is going to cost $340. Like a lot of other animal rescues, Covid 19 hit us hard – we had fundraising planned which would have brought in about $500 that had to be cancelled.
We would be extremely grateful if you could donate – any amount is appreciated – to help us get the treatment she needs so she can be adopted and go to her forever home.

Our bank account is Kiwibank 38-9019-0699166-00 in the name of KittyCat Rehoming Wairarapa. If your donation is specific to Precious please put her name in the reference field. If it’s a general donation please use donation as the reference.

If you would like us to send you a receipt please text to 021 0843 8935 your name, street address, email address as well if you are happy for the receipt to be emailed to you and the amount you donated.

KittyCat Rehoming Wairarapa is a registered Charitable Trust CC54963. Our mission is the care, desexing, management and rehoming of community and abandoned cats in the Wairarapa area.

Thankyou!

Could the Wairarapa DHB join with Hawke's Bay?

Piers Fuller Reporter from News of Wairarapa

If the number of DHBs was to reduce as recommended by yesterday's DHB review, it would make sense to combine Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa DHBs, says one of the country's longest-standing elected members.

If the number of DHBs was to reduce as recommended by yesterday's DHB review, it would make sense to combine Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa DHBs, says one of the country's longest-standing elected members.
Hawke's Bay DHB member, Kevin Atkinson, who has been elected on seven occasions since 2001, and served as chair for 18 years until last year, said he was quite confident that Hawke's Bay DHB would be one of the 8-12 retained under the review.
"We're tenth based on population [out of all 20 DHBs] and I think Hawke's Bay would be a logical centre. One option would be to take in Dannevirke and Wairarapa, which would see our DHB cover Ngāti Kahungunu territory. That would make sense," he said.
