Rubbish!

Sandra from Kohimarama

Thanks to the person who filled our rubbish bin with a big black rubbish bag! I have no problem with it being filled when it’s out the morning of collection, but not just after it’s been emptied :(. Has papers in it relating to Kira Mance and Malcolm Alastair Willis (1/4 Bay Road).

The world is the midst of the largest refugee crisis in history. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that there are currently around 65 million people worldwide who have been forcibly displaced from their homes.

This talk will challenge a number of common assumptions about the crisis including how it is portrayed, what the causes of it are and how we should address it. It will suggest that not only is our current international system incapable of fixing the crisis but that it is, in fact, one of the key reasons we have a crisis in the first place, and one of the biggest barriers to resolving it.

Dr Anna Hood is Dr Anna Hood is a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland. She has a BA/LLB (hons) from the University of Melbourne, an LLM from NYU and a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include international law and security, refugee law and disarmament.
