Hi,

we am selling this lovely L-shaped couch. Bought as second hand around 8 months ago, was told by its original owner that it was customised from Freedom, we looked up the website for similar-shaped sofa, the original price could be aorund $2800 or more(see last pic for reference).

Selling as moving out, it has been a wonderful addition to our lounge, condition feels almost new, still in very good shape as it's stuffed with feathers. No stains overall, only some scratches on the back corner and its lower part from the previous owner's cat, not obvious and doesn't affect while using (see photo for ref.).

*Specs(see photo):

W: 288 cm
L: long side - 166 cm ; short side - 103 cm
W: each seat: 108 cm
Seat H: 42 cm

Buyer must pick up from One Tree Hill. Happy to recommend mover if needed.

P.S. Note the last photo is only for reference of a similar sofa, not the real couch we are selling.

Feel free to pm for any questions, or to arrage for a viewing. Thanks very much :)

“BEAVERS COTTAGE” Trafalgar Street Onehunga Built about 1873

Jas. Beaver was born at Aughnacloy, Tyrone, Ireland, on Nov.2nd. 1833. where he spent his childhood, following in due course the calling of Tailor and Mercer.

Being of adventurous spirit he decided to exploit the new lands of the South Seas, eventually arriving in Auckland by the ship “Ganges” in Oct.1863, with his wife and family.

In common with other arrivals he was commanded for service in the Militia doing duty at Otahuhu.

He stay¬ed in Auckland City for long enough to catch the gold fever, and to cure it be tried his luck unsuccessfully at the Thames.

Returning from this venture he started farming at Epsom, and finally moving to Onehunga in I873, where he resided for his last fifty years.

He had two farms at Mauku which he worked in conjunction with a firewood business in Trafalgar St. Onehunga. It required considerable enterprise and pluck to attempt the journeys between these places, those days a considerable distance, especially considering the so-called roads and bridges then existent.

His wife predeceased him by thirty years, but he lived a full and rewarding life, passing on at the great age of ninety. Two sons and three daughters comprised his family, and at his death he had twenty-two grand-children and eighteen great-grand-children.

The firewood business taken over by his son continued until about 1966, so passing one of the landmarks in Onehunga on the right-hand side of the cottage.

The cottage was renovated in 1968 making it look grand.

Family.
Mr. Walter Plumber. Hamilton.
Mrs. J. D. Denise. Late of Otaua, Waiuku. 6/6/1968
Mrs. J. H. Blackwood. Onehunga
Miss Beaver Onehunga.
Settlers gather in Onehunga

Onehunga’s Carnegie Hall was the appropriate setting for an all ¬day family reunion of descendants of an early settler's family from Onehunga.

James and Charlotte Beaver and their three children arrived in, New Zealand from Country Tyrone in Ireland on the' ship “Gange”, in 1863. They settled in Onehunga in 1863 and later had two more children.

The family lived in Trafalgar St and ran a grocery store beside the house. Mrs Beaver died in 1893 and Mr Beaver in 1923. Their youngest daughter, Elizabeth, had a small haberdashery business in Trafalgar St until her death in 1951. Grand¬children and later great-grandchildren operated a coal and firewood business, also in Trafalgar St, until the 1950s.

Reunion organiser Mrs Win Russell said 145 of the 385 descendants attended the reunion - with the oldest family member being 88 and the youngest seven months. Of special interest to family members was the exhibition of the prayer book presented by a prayer book and homily society to James and Charlotte Beaver on embarking on the Ganges.
