Poll: Should Kiwis be entitled to more sick leave?

The Team Reporter from Stuff

With Covid-19 still a very real risk, people who are unwell are told to stay home, and to keep any sickly kids home too - but what if you don't have any more sick leave owing?

Most Kiwis are entitled to five days of sick leave a year, but some - often those in lower paid jobs - get less.

New Zealand’s minimum sick leave allowance is one of the lowest in the OECD. In Australia they get 10 days, in most European countries it’s even more.

We contacted ACC and posed the question: ‘does this mean we will get 2 inorganic collections in 2021?”. Response: “don’t know, wait and see”. Before becoming a Super City, we use to have inorganic every six months and our rates were much lower. Since the amalgamation our rates keep increasing and we only have one inorganic per annum and we even missed out totally some years. ACC really know how to stuff you around, no transparency or honesty. You just have to suck it up and continue paying. Has anybody else been informed about this postponement?

Totally out of character for her. She was taken to the Gt Sth RdVets a few days ago by a neighbour in Birman Close. Apparently she’s been living under their deck which is strange as she has been with us, sleeping on the bed at night etc and has been having all her meals as normal. They also mentioned they were starting to feed her which concerns me greatly. If anyone sees her please call. 0212173741. We really miss her and want her back with her family Thanks

We’ve found out where she is, so all good.

The Sunday Star-Times wants to hear from children about how they've been impacted by Covid-19 and lockdown. Perhaps they've learned more about hand washing and germs, or maybe they want to talk about having mum or dad home more often, or learning from home. Kids can write a sentence or two to be included in print by emailing kelly.dennett@stuff.co.nz, by Friday, July 10, at 5pm. Their first names and ages may be used in print. Parents, if you're happy for your children to be photographed please let us know.
