Did you know that Surfdale in Waiheke Island received its name via a competition? The winner was awarded a section of land near the beach...

At 8 pence a day on top of a small deposit, a Surfdale section was also promoted as a sound investment – so close to downtown Auckland that “values must go up and up and up”.

Well, they weren't wrong there.

Today, Waiheke Island brings to mind sunny vineyards and beachy weekend getaways. The image of Waiheke as an “island paradise” has its origins in 1920s marketing, but the island has long been desirable even as its character has changed over the past centuries.

As we go into the long weekend and begin to venture further afield again, why not have a read of how Waiheke came to be the place it is today, in this blog about its recent history by our Project Curator, Jane Groufsky.

Ok, down to the bits you want to know...
1996. 1.8 sedan. 4spd auto. Rear wheel drive.
Air con/Electric windows - all working.

Imported from Japan in 2005. My mechanic says it's in excellent condition and that finding a good one like this is difficult, though parts are easy to get and motor is reliable and easy to access and work on.
Chain driven - no cambelt to change.
Runs very smoothly. Mechanic said it was worth keeping the vehicle, but for reasons above it's now surplus to requirements and it's time to find it a new home.
Ideal first car for someone or maybe you need something cheap as a second vehicle. Extremely fun to drive.

Have just done -
Service - Oil and filter, Wheel alignment, W.O.F and 12 months licensing.
Previous owner installed a Pioneer stereo system with detachable front, and bluetooth connection.
Have original stereo and owners manual.
Tyres good. All badges intact - likewise mouldings.
