Parking in a disabled person's car park 🚗😠

Let me get this off my chest first. I am not a disabled person that requires assistance in any form or a specific car park.
However, and this is where my blood absolutely boils.
There is next to no help for the disabled when a non-disabled person parks in their designated carpark!!!

I found this out when I saw a blatant abuse of this rule by a family of strappingly healthy people in their big Ford Territory on Saturday at Olympic Park in New Lynn.

I knew that there is an app called Access Aware, but it’s only live in Christchurch, Wellington, Hutt City and Tauranga! Someone really needs to design an app for the whole of New Zealand reporting illegal parking in disabled car parks.
So, I called CCS Disability Action to report it and they told me that they can't do anything and that I have to report it to whoever owns the park or area of concern.

So I called the Auckland City Council ... what a waste of time!

This time I was told that when I saw this vehicle parking illegally, I should have called the council straight away and they would send someone out within an hour. An hour and even that's not guaranteed!!

For goodness sake, no wonder the able bodied people don't give a rat's arse about parking where they damn well like. There are no repercussions if they do this.

It didn't matter that I took photos of this vehicle illegally parked in a disabled car park, took down all details including that there was no disabled permit whatsoever anywhere in the vehicle (just in case their disability is invisible), the time, date and place - they didn't care one iota!

There were so many available non-disabled car parks, so they can't use that excuse.
The person you see in the background carrying a child was one of the people in this vehicle.

So, to all of you people who park in designated disabled car parks - SHAME ON YOU!!!

The disabled community have very few spots to park and they don't need you to take one of the very few available.

Hi everyone,

I'd like to start a conversation about organising to help the vulnerable in the community, especially the elderly, to prepare and stay safe during the coronavirus. It would be great if we could (safely, and within MoH guidelines) organise getting the contact info of volunteers to people who may need help with buying groceries, walking dogs, finding entertainment (e.g. library books) and anything else that may be difficult during a period of self-isolation.
Alternatively if there is already a group doing this, please let me know so I can join!

If anyone has ideas about how to organise this kind of community thing, please let me know :)
Thanks.

Does this government do anything but talk?
This post from Facebook:
Hi All! We have arrived safely in Auckland and are now in a hotel waiting out our isolation period. I wanted to make everyone aware of what we experienced at the airport this morning. There was no mention on the plane or information handed out explaining self isolation enforcement and what was involved. No information was handed out at the airport arrivals. We were given a card where we had to give a contact address (not an isolation address) - no one asked us where we were staying or if we understood our obligations when isolating. No temperature checks. A handful of staff wearing masks. Lots of people in the arrival area land side waiting to greet and pick up people from category 1 countries - are they now going to isolate too? A man in front of me in the queue was from the UK, I heard him tell immigration that he was here for 2 weeks. He then grabs a NZ tourism brochure on his way pass - something tells me he doesn’t plan to isolate! The whole process is a joke! We are an island we can easily stop this virus by shutting our borders down and geo targeting everyone who has to isolate and enforcing a fine if they go out of their isolation area. I’m disappointed and I’m concerned. Any ideas on how we can feed this through to the government better procedures and enforcements need to be in place. PLEASE SHARE THIS
