MADGWICK, Tony;

The Hawera Volunteer Fire Brigade would like to acknowledge the sad passing of ex Firefighter and Life Honorary Member Tony Madgwick. Tony was a much loved and respected member of the Brigade and his involvement with the Brigade will be deeply missed. We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to the Madgwick Family for their loss. Past and present members are requested to attend Tony’s last call out at Hawera Community Centre, 66 Albion Street, Hawera, on Friday, 24th May, at 1.00pm, undress uniform to be worn.

SAFEY, Raymond Thomas

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on the 21st May 2019 of Raymond Thomas Safey, aged 88 years. Passed peacefully at Wellington Hospital after a short illness. Much loved husband of Vanda (nee Cloughly), father and father-in-law of Jeff and Sandra, Jonathan and Wendy, and Clare and Mathew. Much loved Grandfather to Genevieve, Nicholas, Jeremy, Joanna, Laura, Cameron, Hudson, and Bryn. Brother to the late Patricia and the late Thomas. Ray was a long time member and supporter of the Marist and then Marist St Pats Rugby Club. In accordance with Ray’s wishes a private service has been held, with a family gathering to send Ray to the wind. Every time we return to Wellington we will see him from afar.

Passed away in his 90th year, on 15 May 2019 at Vincentian Home. Dearly loved father of Maria and father-in-law of Patrick Molloy. Treasured Grandpa of Gisele, Natassja, Michael, John and Gabriela. Great-Grandpa to Evelyne, Ranulph and George.

A special thank you to the caring staff at the Vincentian Home & Hospital where Bernard had been resident for the past two years and eight months.

Passed away peacefully in Greymouth, surrounded by her loving family on May 21, 2019, aged 88. Dearly loved wife of the late Jim, adored mum and mother-in-law of Wendy and Kevin Rodden, Peter (Blue) and Christine, Irene and Roger Devlin, and Julie and Peter Komen, cherished nanna of Nick, Ben and Brenna, Jon and Kylie, Tyler and Daisy, Matthew, Rhys and Jess, Hannah and Blake, Josh and Sibille, Rachael and Sam, and Jacob, loved great-nanna of Nivek, and Emmitt, a loved sister and sister-in-law of the Ferguson and Adams families, a loved aunty, cousin, a friend of all and a healer of many. Flowers respectfully declined. Donations to the West Coast MS Society would be appreciated and can be made at the Service or posted to 26 Mackay St, Greymouth 7805. Passed away suddenly on 21st May 2019, aged 76. Treasured and much loved brother of Barry and Rex and sisters-in-law Raewyn and Lorraine. Loved uncle to Stephen and Jo, Alison and Matthew. Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, 21st May 2019, aged 81 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Peter Kaahu Marshall. Treasured and loved Mum of Bryon, Paula and Vicki. Loving Nana to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the staff at Maida Vale Woodrow Grove Hospital Wing for their love and care over the past few months. A service for Gail will be held in St John the Baptist Anglican Church, 41 Domett Street, Waitara, on Saturday, 25th May 2019, at 11.00am. Thereafter a private cremation.

Peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital, on Monday 20th May 2019, aged 80 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Barbara. Much loved father and father-in-law of Katherine, Richard (dec), Nigel, and Christopher (dec), and Grandad to Deeana. Loved brother of Margaret and Linda, uncle of David, Abby, Sarah, Nicholas, Stephen (dec), and Hugh. A family farewell for Cedric will be held at W. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Essie Summers Rest Home, aged 93 years. Loved mother and mother-in-law of John and Joan, and loved mother of Jenefer and Ishtar. Passed away suddenly on Saturday 18th May 2019, aged 68 years. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Adrian and Christina. Sadly missed Granny of Mackenzie. Aged 85 years, of Invercargill. Passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Dearly loved husband of Hazel, loved and respected father and father-in-law of Margaret and the late Christina, Graham and Megan, Neville and Kath. Loved Grandad of Eleanor, Loralei, and Scarlett. Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Russell Cowley, Joan and the late George McKay; and of Bruce Edginton, Carol Edginton, and the late David Edginton. Tragically, our beloved colleague, Julie Capil, passed away suddenly on 20 May 2019. Ms Capil, as the Head of Technology and Digital Technology has played an extremely important role at Hamilton Girls’ High School and has been a highly respected and valued member of staff. She has also been a fabulous and dedicated teacher. Julie will be sorely missed by the entire school community. The Principal and the team at Hamilton Girls’ High School send our thoughts and best wishes to Julie’s family and friends.
